Go-ahead given for Scottish opening bridge

Scottish government ministers have approved a major waterfront project that includes the first opening road bridge over the River Clyde.

The Clyde Waterfront & Renfrew Riverside project has been designed by engineering consultancy Sweco has worked with architect Kettle Collective.

The crossing will improve access to employment, education, health and leisure for communities on both sides of the river and increase access for businesses to more customers and suppliers.

The project also includes new roads, walkways and cycle routes into a 150-acre site being developed into a manufacturing district next to Glasgow Airport.

Public engagement helped identify the preferred bridge location, guaranteed environmental enhancements and ensured all new roads come complete with pedestrian walkways and cycle lanes.
