Speaker : Liz Kirkham
Liz Kirkham is currently Network Manager for Gloucestershire County Council. She has worked in local government continuously since graduating from Liverpool University in 1985. Liz joined Gloucestershire County Council in 1990, having completed her civil engineering graduate training with Hampshire County Council. She became a Chartered Engineer with the Institution of Civil Engineers in 1994. She managed Gloucestershire’s bridges for over 15 years until 2014 when she moved into her current role, where she has responsibility for the Asset Management Policy and Strategy for Highways for the County Council. Having recently completed her Institute of Asset Management Certificate and Diploma exams, she has been responsible for delivering an asset management training programme across the whole of the Council’s Highways Department.
Liz is chairman of the United Kingdom Bridges Board, and was recently appointed as Secretary to the Engineering Board of the Association of Directors of Environment, Economics, Planning and Transportation (ADEPT). She was a member of the steering group for the new national Code of Practice for Well Managed Highway Infrastructure.
